rva street art festival

[Mike Broth from the RVA Street Fest Tumblr]
The #WhenInRVA Tumblr got me all nostalgic tonight. People often ask if the transition to the Bay Area was tough, and it was, but not in the way most expect. Richmond, VA is a great town with a lot going on. Tonight I'd like to share an awesome event in RVA that is officially over but lives on- the RVA Street Art Festival. If you are near Richmond, time for a visit.

weekend review: hardly strictly

This weekend was packed full with two gatherings of friends on Friday night, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass on Saturday, and Dish SF with my friend Kelley on Sunday, followed by a 'fry party' hosted by Cornell friends. Luckily, Partner-in-Crime and I took a slow pace and ambled through the weekend. Leaving later than planned on Saturday, we stopped by an old favorite diner of his, the Irving Street Cafe. Still, Sunday evening I was asleep by 10pm.

[They changed the design! I went all week without one!]

street food

Street food is one of those "hot" foodie trends. The New York Times loves covering food trucks and the race for the best cheeseburger or pizza or tacos. But the Bay Area may have elevated the street food game to a new level. Here for only one week I have attended not one, but two, food truck and street food events. The first, Off the Grid, is a mobile food truck event in a different part of the city each week including North Berkeley on Wednesday evenings. The second was the La Cocina Street Food Festival. La Cocina is an incubator for food based entrepreneurs and they hosted the festival to show the talents of their startups and of restaurants from the Bay Area and beyond, along with entertainment. Here are snapshots from both.
