tumblights: 9/16

It was a whirlwind week coming back from New York and launching the Rue Anniversary Issue. I can't believe a week ago I was in New York and still had three stories to write. Yesterday was a lovely day off exploring San Francisco with Partner-in-Crime. Check out my Instagram (@percentblog) for our adventures. I came home in the early evening and finally caught up on blogs and tumblr.

When I went to review what I had tumbled and put together today's tumblights, I thought the way they were arranged on the page was already perfect, so here is a slight deviation from the typical form. The top simple and minimalist. The bottom a riot of color. My week in images.

Bright rainbows and perfect summer colors help me when the Bay Area gets a bit of a fall chill to the air, like tonight. This week I found installation after installation looking to change the way we interact with our environment. Whether the material were made of recycled objects, the artist intention was to imitate nature, the installation actually contributed to cleaning the environment or the work just added a little more 'play' into our day, this week was all about 'environmental interactions.'

This week has apparently been all about simple wood forms, a coffee table, a chair, lamp, a series of linear furniture. But each one also has something a little special. The coffee table contains a prism that marks time, the chair back is inverted in the shape of the seat, the forms contained in the lamp, the furniture snaps together without tools. Each simple but full of simple delights.
